Would reunite original leads for first time since Trek VI.
The early draft of the script for Star Trek 3 is said to include a scene that features both the original Captain Kirk and the original Mr. Spock played by their original actors, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
The news comes from Badass Digest, which claims to have firsthand knowledge of the reunion scene. As they point out, this would be the first time the two have appeared together in canon since 1991’s Star Trek VI: Undiscovered Country.
Fans will no doubt recall that Shatner had a cameo written into the first Trek reboot, but it was cut before filming began. According to Badass Digest, the scene in Trek 3 is different in that “this appearance is plot-driven and integral enough that it might just survive any future revisions.”
If it does survive rewrites, we’re still a long way from filming. The question then becomes, will Shatner be willing to wear the uniform one last time?
