HBO Officially Announces Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn for True Detective: Season 2

Over the weekend, Colin Farrell revealed that he would be starring in True Detective: Season 2, with rumors circulating that Vince Vaughn could join him. Today, HBO confirmed Farrell and Vaughn’s involvement and gave official descriptions for their characters

As previously reported, Season 2 follows three police officers and a career criminal as they navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. In this,¬†Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.”¬†Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”

The premium network also revealed that The Fast and the Furious series director Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes.

Production on the eight-episode season will begin later this fall in California. Stay tuned for more casting announcements as they come our way.
