Back to the Future: The Game Trailer

Earlier today, Telltale Games released the first official trailer for their upcoming Back to the Future: The Game exclusively through GameTrailers.com, and the 1:32 clip has revealed several details about the story which had been previously unknown.

There are several details we already knew about the upcoming five-part epic adventure through time.  We understood that the game picks up roughly six months after the events in the film, and that we would be meeting Doc Brown as a much younger man than we saw in the films.  Other than knowing that Marty, Doc and the DeLorean were in the game, that really was just about all we knew about it — until now!  Here’s some of the details we’ve gathered from viewing the new trailer:

  • The story begins on Wednesday, May 14, 1986 at 6:04 PM.  (Trivia: May 14th is Robert Zemeckis‘ birthday.)
  • The bank which owns Doc’s mortgage is planning an estate sale to liquidate his house and personal belongings in his absense.
  • George McFly appears in the game, although seemingly he is not voiced by either Crispin Glover nor Jeffrey Weissman.
  • Doc seemes to have somehow devised a way to send the DeLorean time machine remotely through time to pick up Marty at his lab in 1986 — a technique which he utilized in 1991 during the events of Back to the Future…The Ride.
  • Marty travels to June 13, 1931 at 4:00 AM in an attempt to rescue Doc from the past again, per Doc’s written instructions.

We also now know the name of each episode and the release strategy for each.  “It’s About Time” arrives sometime this month, followed by “Get Tannen!” (Feburary 2011), “Citizen Brown” (March 2011), “Double Visions” (April 2011), and the finale, “OUTATIME” (TBA).  The title of the second episode presumes that Biff Tannen will appear in the game, although we’ve already confirmed with Tom Wilson that he has not currently been asked to reprise his popular character.

Stay tuned for further news on this very exciting game as we receive it!
